Dr Ross Lambie is Chief Economist and Assistant Secretary of the Economics and Analysis Branch in the Department of the Environment and Energy. Prior to this position, Ross was General Manager of the Resources and Energy Economics Branch in the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science.
Ross began his career as a trader in the New Zealand Financial Markets and spent almost 10 years as manager of trading teams. Before joining the Australian Government in 2013 as Manager, Gas Markets in the Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics, he spent two years managing the economics team at the ACT Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission.
Since 2015, Ross has been an Advisory Board member of the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC) for which he is responsible for providing professional advice on ongoing and proposed research.
Ross has a strong academic background in environmental, energy and financial economics. He holds Bachelor degrees in both Accounting and Resource Studies, an Honours degree in Economics (First Class) and a Master’s degree in Commerce and Management (Distinction). He has a PhD in Public Policy and Economics from the Australian National University.
