BETA collaborated with the Australian Financial Security Authority to understand why some businesses create inaccurate registrations on the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR), and to suggest ways to improve the register.

To conduct our research, we analysed a sample of 2.7 million PPSR applications. We also interviewed PPSR users, including small and large businesses, advisors and PPSR National Service Centre staff.

Our report outlines seven opportunities where AFSA could employ behavioural insights to improve the registration process, with expected benefits for all users.
